11-11-22 Chili Campfire Singalong

Members and friends of the congregation got together for a sing along around the campfire on Friday, Nov. 11. The original plan called for roasting marshmallows for s’mores, but Hurricane Nicole rained out the outdoor fire. Instead, attendees were warmed by faux-fire crafted by our own Sally Evans! This Christmas the church is helping the Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Person by providing items for families they assist and items needed at their shelter. Come to church and select the gift tags you wish.

Deck Repaired 9-4-22

The annex deck replacement project was a big success. Even though it was a holiday weekend, a large work crew turned out to help, and the whole thing was nearly finished all in one day. Becoming a Good Trouble Congregation

The Aiken UU Church is working on officially becoming a Good Trouble Congregation. The South Carolina UU Justice Alliance, SC NAACP and UU the Vote issued a challenge to churches to earn this designation, and the Social Justice Committee voted to proudly pursue this.

Family Promise Homelessness Project

Church members and friends prepared and served dinner on June 27, 2022 to students enrolled in a Family Promise course called Keys to Good Tenancy. This class is offered as part of the homelessness prevention goal of Family Promise and is designed to provide vulnerable families with the knowledge and skill to be good tenants. We have our first settled minister!

Reverend Debra Guthrie-Joyce was installed as the first settled minister of the Aiken Unitarian Universalist Christ on Saturday, May 28, 2022. The event took place at 1 p.m. at the Lessie Price Center, 841 Edgefield Avenue in Aiken.
