  • Renee Kauffmann

    President
    Renee Kauffmann - AUUC - 2017

    Renee has been a Unitarian Universalist for the past 17 years. She was a Director of Religious Education in Michigan for 8 years and has served in many UU leadership positions in both Michigan and South Carolina. Renee and her husband Greg are recent empty nesters who are looking forward to traveling and becoming more involved in social justice at the local level. Renee plans to go back to school to pursue a Master’s degree in Divinity.

    This position is currently open. The President-Elect assists the President in all necessary and appropriate ways, and presides at all meetings of the Board or congregation in the absence of the President. The President-Elect assumes the office of President upon completion of a term of one year, or if for any reason the President is no longer able to serve.

    Sandy is a long-time Unitarian Universalist, a retired communications professor, a volunteer instructor for English as a Second Language and US Citizenship preparation classes, a cat devotee, and an off-the-beaten-path traveler.

    John relocated to South Carolina in 2006 after many years in the wholesale florist business in the Washington, DC, area. In addition to his volunteer work with the AUUC Board and Finance committee, John is active in several Aiken community organizations.

    Buffy has been a devoted Unitarian Universalist since 2009. She joined AUUC, fully invigorated, in May 2017 after helping the congregation write a new mission statement. She lives in Aiken with her fiancé, Jeff, her son, Kwaidan, and their dog, Remi.

    LaRahna Hughes - AUUC

    LaRahna is a native of northern California but she has spent most of her adult life as a southerner in Georgia and more recently South Carolina. She has formal education in business, psychology, history, and religion. She has a master’s in Practical Theology from an evangelical seminary but her personal faith journey has led her to seek out truth from the wisdom of many of the life-embracing faith traditions. Her passion is to spend her days affirming life and love, building community and being supportive of those who intentionally choose to live life more fully each day.
