In appreciation for our congregation’s work to be designated as a Good Trouble Congregation, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) gave us a $100 gift certificate to the UUA Bookstore. With this certificate, the Social Justice Committee purchased several children’s books that promote our principles and recently presented these books to Carol Boeding, Chair of the Youth Religious… more

The church supports a Keys to Good Tenancy course offered by Aiken County Family Promise which is designed to prevent homelessness by providing essential skills and knowledge to at-risk students. Church members provide a meal for the students, and Sandy Hochel teaches the class. In this photo Sandy is presenting a certificate of completion to one of the students in the February 2023 class.

Twenty-five church members and friends gathered February 28th, 2023 at the church to join the national Unitarian Universalist Watch Party held in honor of the congregations earning the designation of being a Good Trouble Congregation. AUUC joins an elite group of 24 other congregations nationwide to earn such a honor.

We had a very successful church-wide Christmas project: members and friends bought over 100 gifts for adults and children helped by the Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons. We bought some items such as linens and dishes for Cumbee’s emergency shelter, toys for children who otherwise would not have much for Christmas, and clothes, space heaters, and gift cards for families they… more

Each year, the various church chalice groups select a service project to give back to the community. The Warrior Goddess Chalice group visited Pepper Hill Nursing Home on December 3rd and sang Christmas songs with the residents.

Members and friends of the congregation got together for a sing along around the campfire on Friday, Nov. 11. The original plan called for roasting marshmallows for s’mores, but Hurricane Nicole rained out the outdoor fire. Instead, attendees were warmed by faux-fire crafted by our own Sally Evans! The annex deck replacement project was a big success. Even though it was a holiday weekend, a large work crew turned out to help, and the whole thing was nearly finished all in one day. Because this work detail got started as soon as possible after it was discovered that the old deck was in bad enough shape that it was unsafe, it was only necessary to close off access to the Annex for the use of the nursery… more
